Excel
Hi bloggers! In the past couple of weeks in our Computer Applications class, we've been working on Excel. We watched and practiced Excel lessons that went into the depth of what Excel can do, and how it can make your work and your life so much easier. We worked on simple things, such as typing into the cells and copying and pasting. Then, we moved onto more complex ideas, such as working with the patterns that can be easily picked up in Excel, and using the function tools. After going through all of these Excel lessons and activities, I now know much more about excel, and can now use it to make my life easier, and make performing tasks with information, quicker.

The Children's Menu
Have you ever noticed the children's menu at restaurants? I don't mean just seeing it and noticing it, but I mean REALLY looking at it. The way that it grabs and holds the attention of children ranging from ages as young as 2 to as old as 14. First, there's the pop of color that quite often, the adult menus lack. Then, there's all of the games that it has. They may be small and quite honestly pathetic, but they can still seem to hold the attention of children for longer than one might think. Finally, there's the strange names that the restaurant gives the food to try and make the menu even MORE directed towards young kids, because I guess it wasn't already that way to begin with. For example, why can't they just call "sliders" "small burgers"? Because that would take all of the fun out of it all, that's why.

Update From Meghan
Welcome back to my blog! In this class for Computer Applications, we're learning many different things about both Word and Blogger. For Word, we're learning about different features that we can use to enhance our learning, and make creating text that will stand out, tables, shapes, etc., easier. Also in Word, we are learning how to use templates to make writing a formal letter, invitation, or resume much easier. We can use it to follow a step-by-step process that will make completing the task at hand much more simple. In this Computer Applications class, we are also learning how to use Blogger. We are learning how to follow our peers in the class, as well as allow for others to easily follow us on Blogger. Thanks for viewing my blog!

First Post
Hello world, my name is Meghan, and this is my first post on my Computer Applications class as a sophomore at Reading Memorial High School. I am looking forward to learning new ways to use the computer to both help my everyday life, as well as my learning. In school, I am very involved with sports. I play varsity field hockey, run varsity indoor track, and play varsity tennis. Outside of school, I am very involved in volunteering. I volunteer at the church in town that my family and I attend. I also volunteer over the summer and sometimes during the school year at Winchester Hospital. When I go to college, I want to major in nursing, so volunteering at the hospital helps me get a sense of what it would be like to work there. I am looking forward to taking this computer applications class this semester, and learning about new technology to help both my learning, as well as my everyday life.
